This past weekend Kayla and I went to the 1st ever Matthias’ Lot marriage retreat. It was at the Seven Gables Inn down in St. Louis. The whole event was well planned and happened at a perfect time for Kayla and I. We had both been worn down the previous week from constant house moving stress. I personally had become quite a grouch to be around, and multiple people noticed which was starting to worry me.
We had a lot of time to be together and just relax. The Inn was a cozy little place on Meremac, with a bar named Molly Darcey’s attached. The guys had some time examining Ephesians 5:22-33, led by the new pastor from First Baptist Harvester who was fantastic. Overall, it was a great weekend, and as I’ve said numerous times, just what Kayla and I needed.
I really don’t like the original artist’s version of this song. I guess hearing it too much on soccer mom radio and just the style of it really turns me off. This version however, turned out really good, and I actually liked it! You can see more on Wednesday nights at the corner of I-70 and MO-94, service starts at 7:00 PM.
Kayla and I closed on our house that we’ve had a contract on for 5 months. August 17th was when we first put our offer on this house. All I can say is if you start looking at “short sale” houses, make sure you have a lot of patience. Kayla and her parents scrubbed and cleaned the kitchen while I deep cleaned all the carpets. Tomorrow we will start painting with a bunch of friends from our small group. I hope to have more pictures of the house later. Hopefully we can move in this weekend!
