So my little brother is finally growing up…kinda. He graduated High School, turned 18, and became an Eagle Scout all in a short period of time. So we had big get together to celebrate all of that as a big family. We went out to the newer County Park, Indian Camp Creek. The park is very nice looking and has a lot of great places for groups to get together. We played games, ate food, and met with a lot of family we hadn’t seen in a while. Good times all around.

Kayla and I visited the Zoo and had a wonderful time. Sadly for us, the day we chose to go there was a Shakespeare festival right next to the Zoo. We drove down to St. Louis and managed to find an illegal place to park on Mermorial Day weekend. We spent the next 6 hours taking a LOT of pictures, eating, drinking water, and enjoying a great day.
By the way, sea lions are officially now on the list of coolest creatures ever.
And the sun makes me sick. I slept for about 20 hours the next day.

Kayla and I spent some fun time burning things and trying to wax seal our thank you envelopes. Throughout the process Kayla has been really great, as all I have to do is sign “and Chris” and seal the envelope. You can find the pictures here.

We had a very eventful Mother’s Day this year. Kayla and Auburn picked me up at my apartment to go out to O’Fallon to attend church with her mom, dad, and grandparents. On the way I got a sweet donut from the best place to get doughnuts around. After church there was more deliciousness to be had as Kayla’s mom fixed brunch for the group. Kayla’s mom got a book from her, and a embossing cutting thingy from Auburn. I also apologize for not bringing my camera to the first festivities of the day.
After spending time with Kayla’s family we went over to my mom and dad’s. As we arrived Kayla pretended she was going to say “Happy Mother’s Day” to my mom before I could and ran ahead of me in the yard. When we gave my mom her present she just cried and cried. It was a book entitle “Why a Son needs a Mother.” Also as a bonus for my little brother, MY gift somehow healed the rift that had grown between them since he got a hole poked in his eyebrow and shoved some metal through it.
We also saw a frog. Pics to prove it.
For dinner I wanted to take both families to Olive Garden, but the 2+ hour wait deterred us to Chili’s instead. We got a table in under 5 minutes there and had delicious food together. Afterward Kayla and I took Mom and Dad to see the new Wolverine movie. Kayla was a tad lost as she had never seen the previous X-Men movies. Aside from a few “Hollywood” moments, I thought the movie was quite good.
